Time to pay attention it’s April Fools day! (Or as GWB said in Nashville, “Fool me once, shame on … shame on you. Fool me… You can’t get fooled again!”) This country is full of good people whose desire is, for the most part, to lead happy lives. The big mistake for those in power is when they underestimate the intelligence of these good people. The powerful can fool the people once or twice but in the end the people catch on and reveal hypocrisy when they see it. Unless they have been completely brainwashed, they can recognize the truth when they see it or hear it. We know from recent history that promises made during a political campaign don’t always turn into action. We may have been duped because we were mesmerized by new rhetoric that we hadn’t seen before or may have simply dozed off. But, as the saying goes, “the chickens have come home to roost.” I don’t know when, but slowly bit by bit, this great ship of state will right itself. Truth will rule.
19 I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes they were plotting against me, ‘Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may no longer be remembered!’(Jeremiah 11:19)
So it is just a matter of time that seekers of the truth will find it and take action. The search, of course, takes effort. If I blindly believe without verification and research then I become my own worst enemy. I become complicit. I become a sheep. So too believing blindly in the loudest voice that blasts through my psyche needs verification. You know truth when you see it.
45 The guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, ‘Why haven’t you brought him?’
46 The guards replied, ‘No one has ever spoken like this man.’
47 ‘So,’ the Pharisees answered, ‘you, too, have been led astray?
48 Have any of the authorities come to believe in him? Any of the Pharisees?
49 This rabble knows nothing about the Law — they are damned.’ (John 7:45-49)
The truth shall set you free. Be discerning. Lies that are repeated often enough begin to sound like the truth. With a little bit of digging and research for the truth we can cease to be sheep and pawns of the powerful.
and so it goes…
