These days, although it is not impossible to do so, it is difficult to discover what is true. Five weeks into this disastrous presidency unsubstantiated innuendo has become the norm for facts. It’s akin to throwing an incendiary device through an open window, running away and deflecting responsibility on a ghost. We saw this during the campaign and before with the current occupant of the White House throwing a molotov cocktail called birther, trying to delegitimize the previous occupant of the White House. No proof, of course. Conspiracy becomes the new truth. Conspiracy becomes the weapon of mass distraction. Russia ties in the news? A tweet about wiretapping. For a man who cannot pathologically acknowledge his mistakes, he hopes this latest distraction will cool the negative stories and shift the focus from him to “something” else. It’s worked before.
The truth is in danger and mistrust and cynicism have replaced it. Facts no longer matter because even they are suspect. Even though we are in a drought there still must be hope. The revitalizing rain that is sure to come, will renew the parched earth. It will come.
For, as the rain and the snow come down from the sky and do not return before having watered the earth, fertilizing it and making it germinate to provide seed for the sower and food to eat… (Isaiah 55:10)
and so it goes…
