Advent Calendar – Day 17

Today is December 13,2011 –And one of the readings for today comes from the Prophet Zephaniah. “On that day you shall not be put to shame because of the deeds by which you have rebelled against me; for then I will remove from your midst your proudly exultant ones, and you shall no longer be haughty in my holy mountain.” (Zeph 3:11). Look up “haughty” in the dictionary and I think, in the new edition of Webster’s, you will see a picture of Newt Gingrich. ‘nuf said? He seems to aline himself with Ronald Reagan and his policies. Being an “historian” one would think he should know better. They were so great for American weren’t they? How do I love thee, let me count the ways, I love you for the depth and breath of your deficits and for your “trickle down” economics that have helped me so much. And I love you for the union break-ups and creation of the 1%-ers who get richer while those people, you know, the disdained 99% make it waiting for that wealth to “trickle down.”

Well here we are 12 days from from the 25th and how we doing? Well some the “proudly exultant ones” are gone, Donald Trump and the irrelevant Dick Cheney. We “shall not be put to shame” because there is always hope and Americans are not stupid, a little slow to react, but not stupid. Pssst, wake up.

and so it goes….

A little song, a little dance, a little coffee down your pants... 40 years in the high school classroom and now on my own. A chance to think about stuff and how it affects everyone, not just me. Now residing in Oregon volunteering for a refugee organization.
