Advent Calendar – Day 12

Fly away

Today is December 8, 2011 the Feast the Immaculate Conception. One of the readings from today is Genesis.“The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.” (Genesis 3:9-15,20) holy moley , snakes in the grass! Wow, there are so many directions I could drag this quote, but I will try and be civil. I have been looking up the word “civil” and only see a picture of “Occupy Wall Street.”

I had another question for the waning influence of the Tea Party and it’s folks, shouldn’t they know what’s in the founding documents before they open their collective mouths? Congressman Allen West from Florida (who’s days as a lawmaker are numbered…well at least until November 2012) has criticized the president for using divisive language like “equality” in his speeches. He goes on to say that the should be all “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” All well and good Mr. Congressman, but the line before he quotes says “all men are created equal” which sounds like equality to me. Remember the old saying? “It’s better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” Oh wait, he said this on that Fox channel thing so the quote is redundant.

Hey fellow Americans there are many snakes in the grass but we shouldn’t be afraid to venture forth. Write Congress and ask them that while they are trying to make Obama a one-term president, they also pass laws like the jobs bill, extension of the payroll tax and confirm the Consumer Protection head, you know, those things that actually help people. If not, we are counting the days… Well we can hope can’t we?…that’s all we got.

and so it goes…

A little song, a little dance, a little coffee down your pants... 40 years in the high school classroom and now on my own. A chance to think about stuff and how it affects everyone, not just me. Now residing in Oregon volunteering for a refugee organization.
