Today is December 1, 2011- The reading for today is from Matthew, “Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 21:21) Which reminds me of some of the loud mouths that say they “speak” for God and really can’t be farther from the truth, the real truth. Now it would be easy, yet again to enumerate those who raise their voices for their own agenda louder than anyone else, drowning out the reasonable voices of sanity and more importantly, love.
For example, why does Evolution cause so much grief for Creationists (Michelle?)? One is science and the other, well, is not, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t compatibility. And what’s with the group from Topeka? Why so much energy to generate so much hate? I know fundamentalists, but really, the Westboro folks have written a brand new definition for extremist…and it ain’t Godly.
During this time to the lead up to Christmas, I wonder if any of you who only get your news from one incredibly slanted and extreme source (named after a small forest animal), are able to change the channel or better yet, turn the TV off for a while. Extremism (according to the latest polls about the dwindling influence of the Tea Party) is sooooo 20th Century. Pull out the album of your family pictures and stare at the pictures of you when you were 4 or 5 and ask yourself, “Where did that little guy go?”
and so it goes…
