Today is Wednesday 30th of November 2011 – And today’s readings are from Matthew and tell the story of the call of Andrew: “As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.” (Matt 4:18)
A calling is something that provides humans with choices. Sometimes people are called to do great things to make this world a little better. Other times, folks can hear the call and not rise to the occasion or choose not to heed the call. The news is full of names of people who do not choose wisely or in the best interest of creating a more equal and harmonious culture. The campaigning season is a great time to observe just who makes the good choices keeping in mind the common good rather than their own or a narrow self-interest. Keep hoping.
and so it goes…
