In an interview over the weekend with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Gingrich was asked how he is a better candidate than in the past. He said, “I do fewer dumb things.” That is the take away quote of the day from Newt. And yet…he didn’t say anything about saying dumb things. Saying dumb things seems to be a theme in the song of the former Speaker but even more strange especially coming from the official “historian” of Freddie Mac. One would think that knowing history as he is supposed to know, he wouldn’t have said that child labor laws are “stupid” or that Obama is a socialist or that the OWS folks should “take a bath then look for a job.” Newt is OOT…Out of Touch, like so many of the folks running to lead this country from the far right. The Republican debates would be funny if they weren’t so sad…and dumb. Is this where we are going as a country? Cheering executions, booing gay soldiers, clapping approval of letting the poor uninsured die, and cheers for water boarding? Is it? These demonstrations are becoming de rigueur from the selfish moronic crowds that attend these un-American rallies. They’re just plain dumb, not uneducated nor ignorant mind you, no, just plain dumb. Gingrich and his ilk feed this great unwashed mentality every time they open their mouths. As I said, it would be funny if it weren’t so sad. I love Paul Krugman’s description of Newt Gingrich when he said last Sunday that he (Gingrich) is “a stupid man’s idea of what a smart person sounds like.” Isn’t that spot on?
Now a new report says that FOX viewers are less informed that people who don’t watch the news at all. I knew Fox viewers were brainwashed, but not brain dead. From the survey by Fairleigh Dickinson University they found that “people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government” and “6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government.” This isn’t the first study that has found that Fox News viewers more misinformed in comparison to others. Last year, a study from the University of Maryland found that Fox News viewers were more likely to believe false information about politics. Now that’s just dumb. Then there’s Rush Limbaugh….
Ok, even though living off-world is a thing of the near future according to Steven Hawking, it really can’t come fast enough…meanwhile we have several hundred more “debates” coming up and several hundred more dumb remarks to sit through.
and so it goes….
