Time to respond

This is Post #232…I’m just sayin’. After this, unless something really earth shaking, like passing some more give aways to the wealthiest of Americans. I am going to take a break until Monday, 3 of January. I know there are many of you who start your work day with a quick look at this blog and either agree or disagree or scratch your head response. So I know it will be hard to muddle through, buck up, I’ll be back. Why now, why not wait until the end of next week. Well…when my family and I were living in Ireland there were a couple of things I noticed (1) the Christmas season started sometime in October (2) there was a work slow down the week before Christmas and (3) the entire country shut down from “boxing day” until after the New Year. So I am just following suit. Speaking of taking time off, I was moved and angered by John Stewart last night on the “Daily Show” where the topic was the obstruction of the Zadroga First Responders Bill by the Republican Senators. The 9/11 bill is named for James Zadroga, a New York City police officer who died of respiratory disease attributed to his exposure to chemicals at the World Trade Center site. Well…this sounds like a no-brainer. They say it costs too much and the senate should be focusing on more important things. Senator Enzi (R-WY) says in the New York Times that he needs more information on how the money will be distributed, even though the administration bureaucracy has been slimmed down a bit. There is still hope that it may be passed before Christmas. Meanwhile, the responders are still out in the cold.

Then of course there’s 9/11’s champs Fox. Stewart called them out for their lack of outrage over the blockage of this bill. As you may have remember they were apoplectic over Park21, the Islamic community center, for weeks and weeks as well as ranting on President Obama not showing up for the anniversary of the vicious attacks. However today Shep Smith finally got on the band wagon after the Daily Show’s rant by saying “How do they [Republicans] sleep at night?” He went on to say “It’s disgusting,” he continued. “It’s a national disgrace, it’s a shame and everybody who voted against it should have to stand up and account for himself or herself.” I’m beginning to like Shep Smith (oops did I say that outloud?). [ and they say that Fox viewers are uninformed]

Time to write your senator. I’ll see you on the Third of January, bring your resolutions. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year…it will get better.

and so it goes…
