Intelligent Life

Hey, you know I was looking at my miles with United/Continental and British Air and I was wondering if I have enough to fly the one way trip to Mars as proposed by two scientists. As you know that suggestion was written by Washington State University astrobiologist Dirk Schulze-Makuch and Arizona State University physicist Paul Davies in an article they co-wrote entitled “To Boldly Go.” Because of the constant radiation suspected to be on the red planet the idea involves men in their ’60’s for whom the health of their reproductive organs is not an issue. (Who’s Cialis for anyway? I guess the moment is never “right” on the planet). Sounds like it would be a blast to fly to Mars…and stay there. I’m not sure if my milage-plus would get me there and would they charge me for an extra bag. I wonder if they have wireless.

This brings up a whole lot of possibilities for example would they be military people? Scientists? Teachers? Politicians? Suppose a military guy came “out” to one of the other military guys on the mission. Would that mean that the self-outed guy would be court-martialed? And if he was, would he have to “pitch his tent” someplace over the next rise? You know, out of sight from the rest of the company? Problems for sure, especially if that soldier was an expert on finding water or turning Co2 into oxygen or could make killer pancakes. Makes you wonder. Anyway the pat-down at the airport or spaceport would be the last thrill of civilization for these guys anyway, if TSA could actually find their “junk.” Maybe some of the new republican class in the House would volunteer. They’re just talking a lot and contradicting themselves anyway.

And so it goes…
