(Bloomsburg, PA) – This will be short and sort of kinda sweet. After driving inn from D.C. I stayed in New Jersey in a room which had a view of Manhattan. Unfortunately I was given an upgrade (I’m humble as you know). I reluctantly took it, jacuzzi and all. It was tough but I got over it. I jumped in the whirlpool while watch the Giants beat the Braves…sweet. I also chatted on Skype and iChat with the folks back home and Sarah in Portland. It was very cool. For the first time this trip I slept in (I may do it again tomorrow, I don’t know) because my appointment with Fr. Martin in Manhattan wasn’t until 1. Ever drive in NYC? A challenge. Everyone seems to know where they are going. I didn’t. I was driving with one hand and reading my Google Map directions with the other. That, of course, left me open to the horns…oh the humanity…Parking fees, by the way are outrageous…but that’s a topic for another time.
The interview went off without a hitch and I think I got some great quotes for the final video. Fr. Martin was a great sport and gave me an autographed copy of his latest book “The Jesuit Guide to almost Everything.” He was very gracious with his time.
After the interview I hopped in the car and headed for the Lincoln Tunnel eventually hooking up with I-80 West. It’s been so long since I headed west, it’s a new experience to have the sun in my eyes as it’s setting. I landed in Bloomsburg, PA for the nit where I am writing this. Right now there is a terrific lightening storm and it’s raining buckets. We’ll see what the weather holds in store tomorrow as I continue to head west towards Pine Ridge South Dakota, my next extended stay before heading down for home.
And so it goes…
