It Makes Your Head Spin

Berkeley – Value Voters Summit is turning out to be as billed, anti-Muslim, delegitimizing President Obama (pssst he’s not one of us, you know) and all about me-ism. It has turned out to be an extremist right wing religious zealot fundraiser. The Republican Party has to be held accountable and stand up for America and not for these flaky dudes that wrap themselves in the flag who are basically xenophobic and are certainly not mainstream. The message is to elect democrats and reject this insanity.

Speaking of insanity, I was in Berkeley Thursday and Friday. I hear there’s a big university there, but it was hard to find. All we saw were a bunch of people wearing the State of California across their sweatshirts. I wish I had that franchise. Why stay the night when I live about 40 minutes away in Pacifica? Because I could. I was in the city to interview two gentlemen at the Jesuit School of Theology. In the meantime between the two interviews I walked around the neighborhood where our luxurious motel was located. Across the street was the Black Pine Circle school, an alternative school in the Berkeley tradition. I went on line to check it out and found that it was founded in 1967 (that looked hopeful) and that the tuition is nearly 19,000 bucks. So much for a community hippie school.

Out our window I saw a few “working women” walking up and down University Ave. Nothing new here, the recession is hitting every one. It was great walking around “Peoples Park” and still smelling the faint odor of tear gas in the air after so many years. Meanwhile, back at the ranch… Don’t forget to vote…

And so it goes…
