Alma Mater

Spokane – The inland Empire has changed since I was a student at Gonzaga University. In fact the university has changed a bunch with a ton of new buildings. It is hard to find my way around anymore. Well it was 41 years ago after all. I guess things change even when 41 years seems like a blink of an eye.

Speaking of eyes, I did an interview in Seattle with my friend Matt who runs a school there and then jammed across state to Spokane just making it to my second interview at the aforementioned changed Gonzaga University. Along the way we stopped at a rest stop for the usual. They were offering free coffee by the “Silent Group of Spokane.” The two men behind the counter were carrying on a heated conversation by signing. Being a gawker of the first caliber, it was fascinating to watch. Both interviews by the way if you are keeping score, were brilliant. The second interview at GU was with a recent grad of the university who is now part of the University Ministry team. She was not only well grounded and knew what she wanted to do with her life, but was happy pursuing it. We had a great chat and my wife even added her two cents to expand and deepen the conversation.

That’s about the extent of it now. Back in Spokane going to visit some ghosts tomorrow at Mount St. Michael’s where I spent two years. I will listen for the wee voices whispering at me.

And I didn’t even mention that dick, Glenn Beck and his grandiose-all-about-me speech tomorrow…damn I did mention it.

and so it goes…
