On the Scottish Border

I know you will be disappointed when I tell you so buck up. Like the “Daily Show” and “Colbert” I too am taking a week off beginning Sunday. I am doing this for a few reasons (1) I started writing this blog on 19th of December and was planning to write, oh I don’t know, maybe once a week. Then twice a week then 5 times a week. Now there are 90 posts. So there we are. (2) You have to digest all the pretty words. And (3) I’m interviewing for a real job.

Beginning Sunday, I will be in Scotland interviewing for a job at a recovery hospital. I’ve never been to Edinburgh so it should be interesting. Why you ask am I going so far away? Well a couple of reasons, first I am good at the position they are offering; secondly I am getting bored with doing almost nothing all day, except watching foreign films and yelling at the entire state of Arizona; I need a job and the thought of wearing a blue coat and welcoming people to Wal-Mart just didn’t cut it; and lastly I love adventures. I have no idea if this will work or not. They have phoned several times from Edinburgh to chat with me. Those of you who know me well also know that I really don’t plan out things completely, but they eventually turn out well. It happened when we moved to Ireland in 91-92. I hadn’t a clue what I was getting into, but it turned out to be exceptional. I also think it’s in the blood. Down deep I have always wanted to be an explorer like Dora. So this is just another chapter in the ongoing saga that is my life. Who knows. Maybe this is my second career. My daughter Sarah decided to settle in Portland Oregon. She didn’t know a soul, not a one. But since she has been there, about three years now, she has a ton of friends, a good job and lives in a nice neighborhood. I think she is happy.

Like I said above, maybe this will be a bust. I just needed to do it. I will keep you posted depending when I can get to a wireless connection to post stuff on Facebook and on Jesus is My Buddy. Whatever the case, I will be back in California next Friday, 7 May 2010

So for the time being. I will see you soon…and so it goes…
